A special project of the Third Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art was launched on September 22 in GMG Gallery - the exhibition of Thomas Joshua Cooper and Bill Fontana. New works by the renowned American artists brought several dozens of the most sophisticated admirers of contemporary art to Leont'evskiy lane. Among those present were curator and art critic Joseph Bakshtein; executive director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art Vassily Tsereteli; head of Impressionism & Modern department of Christie's auction house Matthew Stephenson; head of client service's department of Christie's Russia Anastasia Volobueva; founder of «Era» Foundation for visual art support Elena Berezkina; managing director of Volkhonka Fine Arts Centre Alexey Volobaev; director of education program of Phillips de Pury in Russia Marina Dobrovinskaya; owner of Diehl + Gallery One Volker Diehl; director of MediaArtLab Olga Shishko. Senior collectors Oksana Tarakanova, Pavel Ananienko, Pierre-Christian Broch?, Mark Garber, Ekaterina Lavrova-Vinokurova, Mihail Tsarev, Irina Simons, Dmitry Kovalenko hurried to see the result of Thomas Joshua Cooper's two-year journey through Antarctic Peninsula, Franz Joseph Land, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and Chilean coasts - Cooper personally acquainted the guests with the new «True» - a series of photographs of northern and southern extremities of the world from The End of the World cycle. The famous experimentalist Bill Fontana discovered the hidden world of infinite acoustic energy of silent objects. Among those whom he immersed in this world was editor-in-chief of BlackSquare magazine Elena Panteleeva, fashion-designer Kira Sakarello, deputy of The State Duma Robert Schlegel, editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine Maksim Kashulinsky, director general of Kapital Asset Management Company Vadim Soskov and many others. With the help of complex equipment Bill Fontana recorded the sound of the resting bells of the famous temple in Kyoto as a part of his new project «Silent Echoes». The artist assembled a meditative sound installation and supplied it with a video story. One may find himself beyond the border of daily routine among the works of Cooper and Fontana in GMG Gallery until November 21.
